      Hello everyone.
A lovely spring like day today. The new season is just around the corner. i have just come back from a work party at the Barnton 30 club where many of their members turned up, very impressive.
I think we do things differently. If like last year individuals and small groups turn up independently we can make out waters look really good.

The things that need doing on both waters are:
Overhanging branches that interfere with landing fish and that snag up fishing tackle need taking out
Trees and bushes that overhang the water should be left as they provide food and shelter for the fish.
Weeds growing close in to the pegs need removing with a rake etc.
I do have a longer rake and drag which can be used later on in the season when the weather warms up. For this a more organised work party will be needed so watch out for work party dates

Once the grass starts to grow both pits need strimming and hedges that interfere with access need trimming back.
Some of the pegs need relaying which means some digging out and using the flags that are already available at Hatton Lane.

Just do what you think will improve our fisheries as this will impress our fishery owners and the general public and who knows what this might lead up to.If you have any ideas regards improving the pegs or need any help please let us know.

It would be most useful if members posted on the website if they have done any work as it is encourages everybody.

Looking forward to the new season,
      John Barton
